Sanitation Supervisor

We’re looking for a talented Sanitation Supervisor to help us deliver our mission and have a big impact in this high growth industry. As part of our Sanitation Team, you will ensure we are supporting our operations teams by delivering rooms and equipment in excellent condition.

Purpose of the Sanitation Supervisor role:

  • Deliver a sanitation program that meets Health Canada, EU-GMP and Organic Certification regulations and requirements
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of our sanitation program to ensure we stay current with changing regulations and industry best practices, drive efficiency and efficacy, and maintain sustainable practices
  • Build and inspire the sanitation team to deliver your vision


  • Become an expert in the requirements of the Cannabis Regulations, EU-GMP and Organic Certification in relation to sanitation
  • Build and lead the sanitation team through coaching and technical training, including documenting training activities
  • Schedule the sanitation teams and perform checks to ensure the sanitation program is being carried out properly
  • Develop, implement, and maintain all standard operating procedures, work instructions and record-keeping forms for the sanitation program
  • Monitor the usage of supplies to ensure stocks are maintained
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the sanitation program by monitoring and validating cleaning and sanitation processes
  • Provide sanitation, GMP, SOP, HACCP and safety direction and leadership to the site to ensure site rules, policies and regulations are followed
  • Identify and lead projects that reduce cost, improve quality & safety and work centre performance
  • Coordinate and organize equipment, materials and staff in order to achieve the daily sanitation and site cleanliness standards
  • Conduct daily and monthly sanitation inspections, including pre-operation inspection and post-operation inspection. Verify change over cleaning from product to product on every line
  • Lead the personal health & hygiene efforts at site in relation to production staff
  • Learn, train, and reinforce all relevant Health and Safety expectations and consistently evaluate adherence to PPE requirements for all staff
  • Log activities and ensuring records are entered in a timely fashion
  • Track labour usage at a granular level to understand efficiency and find ways to improve labour usage
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment and on your feet for extended periods of time

  • Ability to organize/prioritize workload
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working in an environment regulated by Health Canada or in a production facility with GMP standards is considered an asset
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with adhering to standard operating procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Health Canada security clearance under the Cannabis Act
  • High School diploma required
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in sanitation, food science or a related field is considered an asset
  • Ability to work night shifts or weekends, if required
